A Message From A Nursing Home

She slowly wiped the tears from her eyes
As she sat in the flower garden alone
Just how long had she been there
Living in this nursing home

Sadly her thoughts went back in time
And the love and laughter in her home
Could it have only been yesterday
Why now then was she so alone

Why did no one come to see her, she asked
Had they all forgotten she was here
After all these were her loving children
And all of them she held very dear

Had the children felt she had been a burden ?
As she no longer could care for herself
Fresh tears now began to flow from her eyes
Couldn't they have tried something else

And as her mind continued to wander
To the man she had always loved
She knew that soon she would join him
Forever in the heavens above

As the moon now made its presence known
She slowly gathered up her books
She knew in her heart no one would come
As she turned for one final look

As a gentle breeze brushed her silver hair
She slowly wiped the tears from her eyes
The nurse was now coming for her
And she sadly bid the flowers goodbye

Sadly as I write these words to you
And before it is much 'too' late
If someone you know is in a home
Please don't let this be their fate
