A Message From Raggedy Ann

I am just a tiny little Raggedy Ann doll
That watches your child as she plays
And sometimes she shares her secrets
Of things to you she cannot say

You might be surprised at what I hear
As she goes about her daily routine
And while you're thinking all is fine
It's actually not as it always seems

Do you recall the morning recently
That your child begged you to rise
Wanting you to feed her breakfast
Only to be sent away as she cries

Just what could be your reasoning
The day you called her dirty names
And as she knew not the meaning
Her tiny heart filled with shame

Now, about that warm summer day
That you gave her tiny face a slap
Do you know she cried for hours
And didn't you blame it on a nap

You may not see your hurtful actions
As the older ones you show your love
But she sits alone sadly in her room
And cries and prays to God above

Why do you abuse this tiny little child
What makes you treat her so cruel
You need to stop and quickly realize
That you are breaking all the rules

Oh how my heart does now sadly break
As I tell you and pray you will hear
Heed this warning and please ask her
About the man you call lover and dear

I have told you just what I have seen
And hopefully this may make you see
That you are abusing your little one
And this is not the way it should be

Yes, I am just a tiny Raggedy Ann doll
And the world knows I cannot speak
So I wrote these few words in a poem
Hoping that parents will stop and read
