A Savior Is Born

The night was filled with great excitement
As she told him the time was now at hand
And they looked in the town for a shelter
For they'd journeyed from a distant land

Just who was this man and pregnant woman
That searched the inns for an empty bed
Where were they going so late at night
And why to Bethlehem had they been led

All the rooms they were told were taken
But in an old stable they could stay
And as the woman name Mary was in labor
She was placed gently upon the warm hay

The coming of the baby had been predicted
By an angel of the Lord in a night dream
To the man known as Joseph son of David
Explaining things weren't as they seemed

A bright glow filled the skies and heaven
As they welcomed the birth of the child
And with much excitement and celebration
Angels joyfully did sing as they smiled

In the east a star with great illumination
Guided the wisemen who did bear him gifts
And bowing to worship and praise the baby
Their hands to the heavens they did lift

Rich treasures of gold, incense, and myrrh
Were among the child's presents and tokens
And words of the Lord had now been fullfilled
As through a prophet his words were spoken

The blessed holy night we know as Christmas
Is the date we celebrate Our Savior's birth
This child who was born in a little manger
We call Jesus Christ and he walked the earth
