Bedtime Stories
Moonlight flooded the small bedroom
And upon the bed a teddy bear lay
As patiently he waited her return
He knew what she would have to say
Each night they snuggled in her bed
As she told him stories of a past
One filled with hurt and sadness
And how her life was happy at last
He never tired of hearing her words
As he quietly held a little book
Listening as she told of her life
And the many turns in which it took
Blue eyes filled with tears of pain
Would tell of what she had seen
Of the years of abuse and neglect
From her parents that were so mean
Hugging and squeezing him so tightly
She told of the many drugs and beer
And how one day it came to an end
When her neighbor seen it so clear
Placing her with a family that cared
She now was happy and could smile
Knowing her hurtful past was over
For an adoption of her they'd file
The stories she told were the truth
And the teddy bear always did cry
Laying awake as she quietly slept
Hugging him with a peaceful sigh
Footsteps were heard in a hallway
And a young tiny girl did giggle
As a teddy bear waited patiently
For a story, his hug, and a tickle
