Beginning Of A New Day

The sweet aroma of freshly brewed coffee
Came from the old kitchen below
As smoke slowly rose from the chimney
For the country side was covered in snow

Smoothing the wrinkles from the covers
She slowly made the bed that they shared
As her husband sat waiting at the table
Knowing in his heart that she cared

There was not a sound in the old house
Except her footsteps upon the floor
Reading the paper and raising his cup
He paused to fill it once more

The rooster was crowing his good morning
As slowly the sun began to rise
For another beautiful day was beginning
And he knew their moving here was wise

They always shared these tender moments
Early while everyone was still asleep
A husband and wife so much in love
And with memories they wanted to keep

Soon the house would be alive with sounds
As the children climbed from their beds
Each one sitting at the breakfast table
And all wanting to quickly be fed

Hearing her footsteps upon the stairs
He heard her lovingly say
Good morning my dear I love you
It is the beginning of a new day
