Wind whistling through the barren branches
Of the trees upon the high mountain crest
And colored leaves lay as a crisp blanket
Signaling the autumn season is now at rest
Warm rays of beautiful and gleaming sunshine
Are being replaced with clouds of misty gray
As the cold winter time quickly approaches
And once more on the ground snow will lay
The morning greets us with a sparkling frost
And as smoke from each chimney slowly rises
We know the time for warmer weather is over
As many look forward to seasonal surprises
Decorations appear for the coming holidays
And are seen adorning the homes and doors
Great excitement seen on faces of children
As toys are being displayed in the stores
Preparations and plans for a festive feast
Are on each list of the women as they shop
Praying that everything will be perfect
Knowing when it's over she'll tiredly flop
Friends and family sharing in these moments
As joyfully they celebrate and come together
Thanking God for their health and blessings
Asking for peace and this world to get better
North winds and snow are now in the forecast
And with hot chocolate we will all gather
Snuggling and getting cozy before the fire
As we watch and listen to the local weather
Yes, a changing of seasons is quickly upon us
And as we greet winter and it's cold sting
We bid fond farewell to the colors of autumn
And wait for the warm sunshine of the spring
