A very good day is my wish for you
As I offer everyone a cup of cheer
And may each of you that read this
Know in my heart you are very dear

The cold winter time is still upon us
And the trees are all ghastly brown
As I write this poem of enlightment
Hoping to see a smile erase a frown

Snow is piled high on many mountains
As people seek the warmth of indoors
These words I send are for sunshine
Some encouragement and much more

Skies are gray and no relief in sight
And many hearts are filled with gloom
But remember soon it will be brighter
As these beautiful daisies take bloom

Cardinals with the colors of bright red
Can be seen perched in barren trees
Soon to be replaced by the bluebirds
Singing amongst the beautiful leaves

So if this day finds you feeling blue
I hope you read these words I send
Winter is here for a few more weeks
Spring is coming and we'll all mend

In February was when this was written
The morning was sunny and very clear
Tomorrow would bring us snow showers
So I send you today this cup of cheer
