Don't Let This Be You

The night was dark, cold and lonesome
As she waited for him to come home
She knew this man was full of hate
As his sinful lust made him roam

This night was just like so many others
As she waited patiently for him alone
How much more abuse could she take
Her thoughts chilled her to the bone

She had fallen so in love with him
Could it be that many years ago
What had changed this deceitful man
Into someone she didn't care to know

His violent words tore into her heart
As his actions came only from lust
She soon grew to hate him
And no longer was their trust

As the years passed she grew quite spiteful
And went looking to find another
Several men she did meet
But only took one as her lover

She soon learned she had made a mistake
For a baby was in the making
She cried for nights feeling her guilt
As she sought someone for the taking

Even though it has been years ago
She thinks back upon this time
Would she have done things differently
Forever it is embedded in her mind

Some readers may take this lightly
Some may know it as being true
Don't be swayed by your careless love
This woman could have been you
