Shadows from the flickering candles
Danced wildly upon the dimlit room
As the evening was coming to an end
And for her it was happening to soon

A night filled with great excitement
She would hold forever in her heart
Oh how could she just turn and leave
Why did she feel this was a new start

Many years had passed since she felt
The arms of a man holding her tight
And this evening had been so special
So how could she only say good night

Watching him as he crossed the room
She recalled a day the two had met
Was it by fate he offered to share
His umbrella so she wouldnt get wet

Skies were dark as the rain did fall
And they hid from the blowing winds
As they took shelter in a small cafe
Drinking coffee and becoming friends

Two months had passed since that day
And this night they had met to dine
As he'd called inviting her to come
To his house for steak and red wine

They had spent this evening talking
Discussing all their dreams in life
And he spoke of his hurtful divorce
A marriage to a cruel cheating wife

Hours passed quickly amidst the glow
Of candles and warmth of tasty wine
As he held her tightly in his arms
Whispering words he had on his mind

As clocks chimed two in the morning
She gathered her thoughts to depart
Knowing this night was one of many
For this man had stolen her heart
