As the long day finally came to a close
And his work week now all done
He envisioned a restful night at home
While his wife thought of having fun

As a trucker he spent long hours on the road
While his good wife took care of their house
She dreamed of a life more fulfilling than hers
While she awaited the return of her spouse

She spent her week nights all alone in her bed
Living as a bored housewife and Mother
And now as her husband soon would return
Her fantasy turned to loving another

It seemed their week ends were spent the same
As his thoughts always focused on rest
She yearned to escape the confines of the house
And she quickly put on her best dress

She began to recall years ago when they met
How they'd cherish all their weekends for fun
Now they were empty and spent within walls
As she hurried to get her makeup all done

She knew that her husband worked hard all week
But couldn't he once have a week end for her
She would much rather have his company
As her shoulders looked pretty wrapped in fur

With one last look she peered in the mirror
Then walked slowly to tell him goodbye
Already he was asleep in his favorite chair
She left quickly so as not to cry

She wondered perhaps if more wife's like her
Suffered from this lonely weekend fate
Somewhat angered by the thoughts she now had
She whispered "wake up husbands before it's too late"!
