Go Rest High On That Mountain

Go Rest High On That Mountain

The old church now lay deathly silent
As he wiped away the salty tears
The memorial service was finally over
For the friend he'd known for years

He was such a kind gentle man
A person everyone could love
Then why was he now spending time
In the heavens up above

A man that always lived his life
And only thought of others
Now lay in the cold hard ground
With flowers as his cover

He was a man that preached the word
And was known both far and near
He always spoke of the Bible
And the One who loved us so dear

As he paused to reflect on that night
He held his head in his trembling hands
Why did he go to that darken alley
And what possibly was his plans

A call came from an unknown source
About a body of a man being found
Laying face down in a puddle of blood
With not a breath to make a sound

As he searched his mind for answers
Of the events of that fateful night
A soft breeze touched his face
And the arms of someone held him tight

A gentle voice whispered do not grieve for me
My work there on earth was done
I am resting high upon this mountain
With God The Father and His Son
