Grandma's Country Kitchen Cooler weather was quickly approaching And a time for baking was almost here For soon I'd light my stove and oven Getting ready for some holiday cheer I searched my cupboards high and low Hoping that with luck I would find Grandma's notes and great recipes As her desserts all were one of kind Where had I placed that small tiny box I wondered as I frantically looked And as my eyes fell upon her writing I read the words from her secret book It was so many years ago as I recalled She would hug me and say take a seat Watch me and learn to make these pies And very soon they will be ready to eat Pleading with her, may I help you bake I would ask for a bite of this and that Of course Grandma would say alright Giggling that it would make me fat Washing and peeling all the red apples She then sliced them with her small knife And as she busily went about her work She would tell me stories of her life Soon her pies were ready for the oven And a smell of spices were in the air Then we swept and cleaned the kitchen As she smiled to let me know she cared Please come and eat, for it is all ready Grandma would say with a big grin And as I ate her delicious apple pie She wiped the cold milk from my chin My thoughts were interrupted by a tapping And I then put the past memories aside As I greeted my own small grandchildren With hugs, I love you, and come on inside Family traditions are so very important And a child will remember their past So take the time and share your life And make some memories that will last Janie Moser © 09/16/06     Share With A Friend                   Janet Kruskamp, Artist® Webset ©Majestic Websets Magic Mystic Memories © 2004 Bruce DeBoer ~Copyright disclaimer~ All songs through out my website are for my evaluation(s) and/or music listening and educational purposes only.
