It's Summer Time
When you hear the hum of mowers
You know the grass is now being cut
Everyone dressed in their gardening attire
For this part of summertime is a must
The little children now freed from school
Looking forward to sleeping in late
No early morning wake up calls
Or school buses on the corner to wait
The sound of laughter is everywhere
As each child finds something to do
Whether it be a romp in a nearby park
Or a bike ride to their favorite zoo
Family vacations are now set in motion
Some will visit loved ones and friends
While others have plans for adventure
Not knowing where their journey will end
Splashing can be heard at the local pool
For the weather is so humid and hot
A soft gentle breeze would be very nice
As each one seeks out a cool spot
Visibly present are the birds and the bee's
Going about their everyday deeds
The bees all make hives of honey
While the birds search for eatable seeds
The waters are dotted with sail boats
As they sway to and fro on the waves
Some cast their lines for fishing
While others explore underground caves
Mom's prepare family baskets for picnics
With a blanket to be spread on the ground
Along with lemonade and ice cold tea
And of course watermelons can be found
Everyone plays a role in our summer
Soon fall will once again show its signs
Of an approaching change of season
And summertime will be left far behind
