Let There Be Peace

As we approach the Christmas season
Many hearts are broken and sad
Memories flood the thoughts of those
Who have lost the love they once had

Some are serving in a foreign land
Facing violence and hatred each day
While families at home are gathering
Kneeling and bowing as they pray

This old world hasn't changed a bit
Since the time Christ Jesus was born
The fighting and persecution continues
While families and relations are torn

Many will be lonely, hungry and cold
Searching for shelter on the streets
With hopes that someone will love them
Amidst their cries for food to eat

Smiles are present on happy faces
All the while they hold back the tears
Recalling the life's of their angel
Cherishing memories they held for years

Homes stand decorated in splendor
Waiting anxiously for Santa's sleigh
Praying for a life of peace and joy
As it should be on Christmas day

The peace we now seek in this war torn world
Is being prayed for from far and wide
Not only between countries and nations
But for the loved ones who stand by your side

As we pause and reflect upon this uneasy year
Praying for peace no matter the reason
May the good Lord above bless you
Upon this glorious Christmas holiday season
