High above the green grassy meadow
The young eagles gracefully soar
And watching, our hearts do flutter
As these are our babies we adore
One April day two eaglets were born
High atop a big tall old tree
And we were blessed to be a part
As their antics we did get to see
The long days turned into many weeks
And we came to know them very well
As names were bestowed upon them
One was called Big and the other LiL
We arose from our beds before the dawn
And we prayed to get just a peek
Of how they lived and did survive
As the parents brought them food to eat
A personality the eaglets each did form
And the one called Big was so strong
Those watching agreed she was female
While LiL, the brother peeped along
A need for food became such a passion
And our LiL learned just how to mantle
In the forth coming weeks we witnessed
His Big sister he did cunningly handle
Videos and pictures were always captured
Displaying the events in the old nest
And as we laughed, giggled and cried
We knew we all had been truly blessed
The twelfth day of July finally arrived
And Big Sis decided she could fly
As soaring high above with her daddy
She discovered a new world in the sky
We all watched as LiL hopped and jumped
And danced upon his crumbling old bed
As he waited peeping both day and night
Hoping soon they'd come and he'd be fed
Silly practicing of his now happy dance
He finally did land upon the sticky man
While Big Sis returned to Mom's branch
Calling loudly catch me if you can
The twenty fourth day of July appeared
And all eyes searched the empty nest
Looking to find our cunning LiL man
Wondering was he flying with the rest
The events that morning were so confusing
As many had said earlier he had fledged
And then I saw him standing so proud
Gracefully lifting from the nest edge
Yes, the experience has been magnificent
And I know it is one I will never forget
As high and mighty our little ones fly
They soar freely no longer tiny eaglets
