Love In A Hot Afternoon
He gazed lazily out the opened window,
It was hot and humid on the street,
As she silently lay sleeping,
In the now damp tangled sheets.
What was it about this old southern town,
That caused men to forget their cares,
He continued to gaze out the window,
As the street vendors sold their wares.
Could it have been so many years ago,
That they met on old Bourbon Street,
She continued to sleep like a baby,
In the now damp tangled sheets.
The year was nineteen ninety five,
He recalled by fate they did meet,
As he glanced lovingly at her,
She silently continued to sleep.
As they spent the afternoons together,
His sinful love for her was growing,
This lovely lady had stole his heart,
Without her even knowing.
He loved her with all his heart,
Since the day they did meet,
He looked over at her lovingly,
As she slept in the damp tangled sheets.
All her life she had lived this way,
This was her way of making a living,
Her beauty surpassed all the others,
Her body was all too giving.
The sun was slowly beginning to fade,
His time was over as being her lover,
Then slowly she opened her beautiful eyes,
As she pulled up the dark tangled covers.
He knew he would never change her,
As he continued to look at the street,
This was the way it would always be,
In the damp and dark tangled sheets.
