Early morning found her sitting all alone
Staring out the bedroom window blinds
With tears of sad troubled depression
Clouding her confused and tangled mind
Not remembering just when it all began
Strangely she knew some time had past
As she now had not one earthly desire
And couldn't recall what she did last
What had happened to make her this way
Didn't anyone possibly know or even care
In which directon was her life headed
All these things she asked with a stare
A woman once filled with such great joy
She now sat all alone and wondered why
And as she recalled her past memories
Sobs can be heard again as she does cry
It had been years since she had a visit
From the family or any of her friends
And she missed the times they did share
As they greeted each other with a grin
Memories flooded her old troubled mind
As she relived the day her mother died
The birth of her three young children
And things she had done and survived
Excitement of becoming a grandmother
And the love that each one did show
The death of one of her grandchildren
As her heart broke and tears did flow
The family celebrating a joyful holiday
Laughter and a delicious cooked meal
The exchange of gifts and surprises
And the enjoyment that each did feel
A woman overcome with tears of sadness
She sits alone at the window and weeps
And she longs for someone to hold her
As the memories of her past she keeps
