Miss Kitty

Just a very tiny bundle of fur
With colors of black and white
Searching for a snack before bedtime
She came to our door late one night

A stray that was born in the wild
Loss of sight and blind in one eye
Such an adorable sweet little kitten
While looking at her I began to cry

We always left food and water for her
As we did for the homeless others
And now as she had grown older
We discovered she would soon be a mother

The day had arrived for our plans to move
And we called Miss Kitty by name
But we couldn't find her anywhere
To leave her would be such a shame

Days quickly passed as we searched for her
She needed shelter and nourishment to eat
Then behold one day when Joe came home
Miss Kitty lay upon his car seat!

What a joy to see her purring little face
But appeared hungry and looking so cold
Soon she would give birth to her kittens
As always, she was feisty and bold

On April the sixth the day had arrived
And we knew this Was Miss Kitty's big day
When five little kittens were born to her
And loved by Miss Kitty the stray

She has always shown strength and bravery
And we witnessed a fantastic mother
Miss Kitty now resides happily with us
Along with Floyd her very proud brother

This poem was written about my sister's cat who just had five little kittens on April 6, 2005. Miss Kitty is a young mother who is blind in one eye.
This is a true story
