Coming really soon is a dark night
As many say Halloween is very near
A time when ghost and goblins roam
Filling tiny hearts with great fear
Some say it's a celebration of death
As witches ride high on their brooms
Screeching and creating an excitement
Laughing at their victims cruel doom
Once a night of enjoyment, is no more
For many understand the true facts
What once was thought of as innocent
Is now seen to be a huge sadistic act
Ok by now many have closed out the page
But some of you have continued to read
And if so, don't think me cruel or mean
For I am only stating my thoughts indeed
As a young girl I spent Halloween night
Going from door to door with my friends
Saying trick or treat like all children
Laughing and giggling with a large grin
Then came a time when the fun was gone
As sadistic people inflicted foolish harm
Poisoning candy and the treats of small kids
Hiding them in any kind of shape or form
I have to admit many years ago it was great
But today we do have to protect our child
Keeping them safe under our watchful eye
As the streets are filled with pedophiles
If you must go out and celebrate this night
Go to a party or possibly an Octoberfest
Make this a happy and very safe Halloween
