My Two Week Vacation

It was in the afternoon on Good Friday
The date was March twenty fifth
We set out on a very long journey
We'd planned and weren't going to miss

We were on a much needed vacation
A trip we had planned for awhile
As we headed to visit our loved ones
Our faces were beaming with smiles

Many years had passed since we seen them
As we stopped first in Tennessee
Visiting with my brother and sister
Tuesday morning we then took our leave

As we headed toward the state of Connecticut
The sites were a wonder to behold
And living in the state of Texas
We only knew what we had been told

We journeyed through the states of New England
Finally arriving on a Wednesday afternoon
The children and grandchildren were waiting
For they knew we would see them soon

We stayed with them till Sunday morning
Then sadly we then had to leave
Driving down to the state of Tennessee
My brother and sister to once again see

Two weeks had disappeared too quickly
As we packed our bags to head home
Many miles the return trip to Texas
Once more my siblings would be alone

As we bid a fond farewell to our kinfolks
From Connecticut and the state of Tennessee
What a delightful journey we had been on
Cherished memories of those we did see
