Oh Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree stood tall and glistening while the old house once more stood waiting in excitement as the hour was late and all the grandchildren had been sent upstairs to bed.

All the little ones were restless as they giggled and talked and imagined they could hear the reindeer upon the roof. Possibly if they could stay awake a few minutes longer they might even see Santa Claus.

Oh yes it was a night of wonderment and great expectations of Santa's arrival with toys and games but they knew in their hearts that they must get to sleep soon or he would not come .

Downstairs the grown ups were finally alone at last to share in the warm glow of the fireplace and the bright sparkle of the Christmas tree. It was time to pause and give thanks for all their blessings.

It was a nice night to be with loved ones and recall the memories of past years at Christmas time. How many Christmas Eve's had been spent in this same old home with the love and warmth of family ?

Could it possibly be that long ago that the parents of the grandchildren had been a mere child themselves ? Oh how the years had passed so quickly but the excitement and love had remained.

Yes it was Christmas Eve as the wrappings of Christmas presents behind closed doors and whispers and laughter can be heard.

Gentle words of comfort and reassurance hugs can be seen as tears are present on cheeks fondly remembering the loved ones no longer sharing in our Christmas Eve celebration.

There was the last minute Christmas shopping and making sure no one was missed on the list.

The smell of rich candy and desserts baking for after Christmas dinnner is lovingly being prepared. The occasional sip of wine or brandy as the day comes to an end.

In a few hours the grandchildren will be up and running to and fro in anticipation of opening their presents so it is time to bid goodnight I love you and see you in the morning.

As everyone began to retire to bed the Christmas tree sparkled with many ornaments and lights as many secrets it held hidden within its branches.

Oh the secrets it could reveal and the stories it could tell about the moments shared from Christmas past.

It was just an old artifical tree that was becoming tattered from the years of use but it had been a big part of the family memories and hoped to be around many more years.

It's lights began to sparkle even more brightly and took on a glorious glow as the family turned toward him and proclaimed.

"In our home it will always be called a CHRISTMAS tree for without CHRIST there would be no Christmas".

If your Christmas tree could talk what would it say about you ?

Keep Christ in Christmas
