On The Other Hand
The music was playing softly
As he held her in his arms
He wished he could stay the night
And keep her safe from harm
He had a wife of twenty years
Waiting for him at home
In his mind were the thoughts
What made him want to roam
He loved his wife for many years
And knew there'd be no other
Why then was he with this woman
The one he called his lover
Could it be his wife had changed
His thoughts raced back in time
She no longer desired his touch
What was on her mind
All the children were now grown
And familiies of their own
It was just a frame house
A place that they called home
The woman he now held in his arms
Made him feel like no other
Why was he then so ashamed
As he crawled from the covers
He knew in his heart this could not go on
For someone surely would be hurt
This woman he just shared a bed with
Was no more than a flirt
The woman had one thing on her mind
And he knew that there was no trust
The only thing he felt for her
Was just his sinful lust
As he gathered up his clothes
And slowly began to dress
He realized how bad things were at home
This was a terrible mess
On his left hand there was a shiny band
One placed there by his wife
Many long years ago
What happened to that life
Although he roamed the bars at night
Sometimes being all alone
He knew she would not understand
So he decided to head on home
