Arriving in the late warm afternoon sun
We preceded to pack all our winter gear
Neatly folding the quilts and blankets
As we knew that spring was very near
So many years we had spent in this cabin
Each winter season coming here to stay
Enjoying the snow and thrills of laughter
Watching grandchildren happily at play
A glowing fireplace would warm the room
As we would snuggle and recall the past
Remembering the tales of our ancestors
And each one being better than the last
Wonderful times in this cabin we shared
And we'd
always plan to return once more
But now everything must be tidy and clean
Neatly in
order before we closed
the door
Pausing in our task we ventured outside
Strolling lazily along the flowing brook
Listening as a
silence filled the forest
Noticing a squirrel had stopped to look
Snow was melting atop a high mountain
Casting sparkling glares upon a blue sky
As a cool breeze began to softly whistle
And gracefully the birds all began to fly
Suddenly a brisk chill filled the afternoon
And we returned knowing the time was late
For we had so very many things left to do
Before we'd bid goodbye and lock the gate
Just one more night in my cabin this season
As the winter time is now drawing to an end
Reflecting upon memories of the frosty past
And many spring time blessings to you I send
