Remember When

Two old country gentlemen name Joe and David had been sitting on the porch for hours lazily smoking and drinking their whiskey.

It seemed they had a heavy burdened heart as they recalled just how much the world had changed .

Nothing was the same as it was and they knew it wouldnt be long before the writing in the good book would be fulfilled.

Joe began to talk about how his kids didnt even talk right anymore . You couldnt understand a darn thing they were talking about .

It seemed what he knew as Coke was now some powder instead of something good to drink.

It was just the other day he said he had to go into town and buy a "hoe" and you should have seen the look on those kids faces as they giggled.

I didnt see anything funny about having to buy me a new garden tool but for some reason they sure did.

Yep, said David, I know what you talking about Joe my younguns talk the same dang way . All this hip hop and rap I cant understand. Them kids need to talk English like we do.

You know all we hear on the tv anymore is how the kids cant pray or say the pledge of alliance at school. What is wrong with this country of ours ? I think they all done lost their minds. What do they think this country was founded on anyway ?

Well you know my grand younguns aint come around now for awhile it seems. I dont think family seems to matter as much as it use to . What do you think Joe ?

I agree with you David, mine aint been around much either. I guess it just aint like it use to be . Shoot when we were growing up you couldnt keep us out of our grandpa and grandma's house. What's wrong with these kids today ?

We been friends ever since we were little boys and we been through thick and thin . We sure getting old just like this old world.

You remember how we use to get our old hound dogs and go out in the woods and shoot us some coons ? The kids of today dont know how to have fun. They are to busy playing those video games and getting into trouble.

Picking up the old whiskey bottle they emptied it into their glasses. Yes, things had changed in this old world it seemed. Once more they had visited their past as they had so many times before .

Yes, they agreed life had changed as they sighed and picked up their fiddle and bow and started to play and sing as their wives came through the old screen door to listen.

What a beautiful night it was up on the mountain and life was good. They knew tomorrow night if the good Lord was willing they would sit here once again and remember how it was back when.
