Sending You My Love
With pen in hand she lovingly wrote
Words of encouragement for him to read
Sharing just how much she loved him
And to feel his embraces she did need
He was dispatched several months ago
With his battalion he had to serve
Crossing the seas to a foreign land
Leaving her scared and a basket of nerves
Knowing he wanted to serve his great country
She had stood by him and agreed he should go
Her nights now filled with such longing
Tears of sadness from her eyes did flow
How long he would be fighting for the cause
Not a soul could truthfully say
But she had told him she would be waiting
And a letter she would write everyday
Their children were still so very young
Two boys ages seven and eight
And not understanding where daddy went
Evenings they waited for him at the gate
She explained to them as best she could
That daddy was fighting in a foreign land
A country so full of hate and strife
Even though herself she didn't understand
Her dreams were filled with nightmares
The gruesome scenes on the daily news
Bombs exploding and lives being lost
The number of American casulties grew
In the quiet peaceful night she sits alone
Looking at the big shining moon above
Praying for the safety of all that serve
And writing to the one she loves
Just take a minute out of your busy life
To send a loving message to our troops
Let them know you're praying for them
Whether it be alone or in a group
Our men and women who are fighting this war
Deserve our support, respect, and love
So let them know just how much you care
Pray for their safety from our God above
