Song Of The Wind

Arising early at the crack of dawn
I set out for a much needed rest
My retreat was to a small village
Secluded for me which is best

I had so many things to think about
Being busy as a mother and a wife
Alone now I could reflect upon
All that was happening in my life

As I quietly sat listening to its sound
A gentle breeze upon me did blow
Then came a song upon my ears
Recalling it was a tune I did know

I continued to listen while closing my eyes
As it words spoke of my turbulent life
Including the hopes and dreams I once had
And the many disappointments and strife's

The sun sparkled on the crystal clear water
While the seagulls glided slowly above
Once again the winds repeated their song
As I thought of all the ones that I loved

As my mind began racing further back in time
It appeared life passed before my eyes
I realized that it wasn't me in control
As my dreams had gone out with the tides

Sitting alone on the secluded rocky shore
I knew now what the winds were saying
That nothing in this ole world last forever
And not a soul knows how long we're staying

We must live our life simply from day to day
As though this will surely be your last
We merely appear as dust in the wind
Into which an endless sea we are cast
