It was late in the month of January
And also two thousand five the year
That I decided to try writing poems
Finding I knew nothing that is clear

I had only spent days building sites
And had never tried to poetry rhyme
So as this was all so very new to me
Errors occurred very much of the time

Writings from my thoughts and dreams
Were subjects people could understand
And before long the mailing list grew
Requests came from even foreign lands

One day I included a few short stories
As Tom and Charlie both became friends
And my inbox would open with surprises
Sharing their adventures and many grins

Pages on my site grew in great number
As everyone encouraged me to try more
But an old woman can only think so much
And my brain was soon shutting its door

Patiently you all waited for me to write
I thank each of you so much for that
Thoughts and dreams continued to exist
Some poems were written about the cats

Now the year is two thousand and eight
And these things I tell from my heart
As the day is so close to Valentine's
I pray that none of you will depart

Some with me since the very beginning
Others read because it has been shared
No matter how you came upon my website
I want each of you to know I do care

Words of compassion sent when I'm sad
Lifting me up to Heaven as you pray
I say thanks for the gift of friendship
To you I send love on Valentine's Day
