The Miracle Of Love

Waking to the sound of the falling rain
And crawling from beneath the sheets
She opened the door to the bedroom
Knowing she did not have enough sleep

Quietly as she tiptoed down the hall
She checked each child in their bed
Making sure they were still asleep
Knowing soon they'd want to be fed

This morning much like so many others
Was spent praying to the Lord above
Thanking him for his many blessings
And for the man she did dearly love

Silently out the window she stared
Recalling the day they had met
The love they had shared so deeply
And a life they had with no regrets

The Lord had blessed them so richly
With children and a beautiful home
Their dreams had all been answered
Neither one having the urge to roam

Life had not always been so pleasant
And hardships they did have to face
But their love continued to flourish
Knowing it was only by God's grace

Years spent watching their children grow
Becoming great young women and men
Each choosing a loving mate for life
Praying God's blessings he would send

Days they worked hard trying to earn
A few dollars to pay the bills
And knowing their love would survive
As they prayed at night before meals

Yes, the years had passed by so quickly
And one day they would leave this life
But the miracle of their love continued
Each day they lived as husband and wife

Sounds of giggles coming down the hall
She knew her grandchildren were awake
And it was time to start her busy day
As their breakfast she began to make

A miracle of love was displayed in poetry
As beautiful as a white graceful dove
Joy shared between a man and woman
Sent from our Heavenly Father above
