So many love poems have been written
Of a split between husband and wife
Displaying the woman as the victim
But this man I know in my daily life
Sitting alone he slowly sipped his tea
And as he buried his face in his hands
He wiped away the tears of pain
As he thought of his future plans
Court proceedings were finally over
Their marriage had come to an end
All papers were signed and legal
Leaving him three girls to attend
He should have seen it forth coming
As she had told him so many lies
All the years of deceit and hurt
Were ended with a final goodbye
Small lives would now depend on him
For care and to show them the way
To love and keep them from harm
Throughout all the night and day
Telling them their mother was gone
And no longer a part of their life
Was something he knew he had to do
As he now would live without a wife
He knew one day he would love again
Although his heart was breaking
The tears he cried were not for her
But for his children he was aching
Free now to live the life she wanted
Knowing she would never find love
His only feelings for her were pity
As he prayed to the good Lord above
It was now very late and time for bed
As he turned to shut off the light
And glancing once more at his children
He said, 'Daddy loves you and goodnight'
Sadly this happens all to many times
One decides they can no longer stay
A marriage ends in a divorce court
And it occurs in our life each day
