The Power Of Deception

Sitting quietly in the misty gray dawn
She reflected on the night before
Of how he had deceived her with his lies
And just how he would hurt her no more

How long had he been deceiving her
Why did he play her for such a fool
Did he not care but for himself
As his lies were his crutch and tool

Her mind began to race back in time
Could it be just a few weeks ago
That they were both so very happy
Till his deception began to show

The night before was one of beauty
As she stepped out upon the porch
But catching him in a deceitful act
Her blood boiled as if lit by a torch

For months he had been deceiving her
But now saying he felt she was aware
Knowing deep within his heart and soul
No longer for his love did she care

Searching her mind for the answers
The term deceit she came across
Deception is a misleading falsehood
An illusion, a lie, that is tossed

Clouds of uncertainty began to appear
As his spell on her did break
No more lies and acts of deception
As a new path of life she would take

The life's of many women have been ruined
As it is a very misleading act
When deceit will cover up hurtful lies
With false impressions and facts

I write this poem as a warning to you
Do not lie and cause your spouse such pain
A marriage of love and trust can be over
Just what did your deception have to gain
