The Wheels Of The Bus
Summer vacation time is now over
As children hurry back to class
Parks and playgrounds are empty
As laughter is a thing of the past
The ringing of alarms can be heard
Mothers saying time to get out of bed
Girls adorning their coolest clothes
And the boys whining to be fed
The yellow bus is waiting on the corner
As the driver shouts and toots the horn
Hurry now children don't be late
I know it is very early in the morn
Each child has bags and supplies in hand
As they board the bus and take a seat
Some will be scared and all alone
While others their friends they'll meet
The time has come to go back to school
A brand new teacher they shall greet
Will she be old, harsh, and hateful
Or could she possibly be really neat
The bells can be heard in the school yard
Beckoning each child to come inside
Time to stop running and playing
And put all their foolishness aside
And as the children are learning their abc's
Mothers thank God that schools back in
Now the house is peaceful once more
As she pulls the sheets clean up to her chin
