Time Is Golden

Sitting alone on the front porch of my home
I watched the moon slowly begin to  rise
And as a warm gentle breeze filled the air
Stars twinkled and brightly lit up the sky

The silhouette of mountains in the distance
Reminded me my life had suddenly changed
I no longer lived in a dirty crowded city
Living amongst the people that were deranged

On such a night filled with beauty and warmth
I watched as the fireflies lit up the dark
My mind began to wonder as time stood still
On what possible journey would I embark

Was there something I could have done different
And if so, would it have truly mattered
Would life for me have turned out the same
Or would I be lost, alone, and tattered

A world now filled with crime, hate, and deceit
What would happen if your mind had its fill
Would your family know you had loved them
Or read the words that you left in your will

The fast paced life which we are living today
Is sheer madness from daybreak to dark
No longer taking time to say hi or how are you
Barely time for a quiet stroll in the park

Our institutions now overflowing with people
Locked away and left crying alone
Or hiding in some darkened alley way
Cold and wet, drunk, and stoned

On this old earth our time here is golden
What your reason is may not be clear
So spend each day as if its your last
Enjoy all that you hold so dear

If your life is fast paced and stressful
Slow down and take a good look around
Say I love you to your friends and family
Time is golden before we're Heaven bound
