United In Prayer

Devastation struck our country once again
This time early on a August morning
A powerful hurricane name Katrina
Pounded our southern coast with a warning

Winds that howled throughout the night
Made her presence known upon the shore
With no respect for property or life
Causing destruction and so much more

Battering the great city of New Orleans
Taking homes and life's in her path
She continued on east to the gulf coast
Displaying her vengeance and wrath

Cries of anguish and fear can be heard
From lives being disrupted and lost
Large buildings now lay in shambles
From the water and winds she brought

Part of our great land has been destroyed
And the need is spread far and wide
Calling all countries to come together
Putting their differences aside

The victims of this horrible tragedy
Need our prayers and financial aid
So many are left broken and homeless
From the catastrophe Katrina made

It is time to pray to the Lord above
As our attention he is trying to get
Reminding us He controls this world
As so many of us seem to forget

Please join me while I talk with God
And ask that He send from above
His Guardian Angels and mercy
Encompassing us with His love
