What Is A Family

As a brisk cool breeze fills the air
And trees display colors so bright
We know holiday's are coming soon
Time for families to again reunite

Now dear Lord, I ask this question
As I am so very much confused today
Just what is the meaning of a family
An answer I do need to hear you say

On a night in the month of December
You placed me with people to love
But a mistake you surely did make
As you must see from Heaven above

Dear Lord, this can not be my family
And the answer I would like to know
Aren't they to be caring and loving
These have no feelings at all to show

Is it not better to give than receive
This I've heard many times before
But I have given all that I do have
And still they'll not darken my door

I'm called upon if they're in need
And am willing to give them a hand
But then if I ask them for anything
They can't do it, I don't understand

Months have passed and no one calls
And Lord I ask you what should I do
My friends treat me as their true family
Is this the answer, I need some clues

So lead and guide me Lord I beg of you
As you know the holidays are very near
Just what is your meaning of a family
I don't have one, and it's so very clear
