Whisper Of Autumn
Sitting alone in the brisk morning air
Watching the red birds in flight
Replacing the tiny hummingbirds
Who visited my porch with delight
The warm summer season is over
Now inching to a welcome end
Local swimming pools are empty
Happy children in school do attend
A lazy stroll through a farmers market
One can see the produce that they sell
The once much sought after melons
Pumpkins now placed on their shelf
Occurring changes throughout the land
While merchants prepare their new wares
With signs of Halloween and Thanksgiving
Causing children to now stop and stare
The days are growing shorter it seems
As evening shadows appear to soon
The work in our yards and gardens
Are completed with the rising moon
Red, gold, and brown leaves are seen
As the green ones are beginning to fade
A gentle breeze blows through the trees
Colorful carpets on the ground now lay
Predictions calling for cool weather
As witnessed on the evening news
Oh yes, it is Autumn upon us
Soon winter will create some blues
Changing of the seasons are beautiful
And God has such a glorious plan
Creating this world for us to live in
Reminding us His love of all lands
